In just over three years, nearly 1,000 units of the 208 have been produced. 000 copies worldwide. In 2021 and 2022, the PEUGEOT 208 was the best-selling car in Europe (and in France), all segments combined.
A success which is based in particular on that of the E-208. In 2022, the E-208 has established itself as the best-selling electric car in Europe in segment B. In France, it was even the best-selling electric car last year, all segments combined.
The new PEUGEOT E-208 will be marketed in November 2023.
Its range will be structured around three versions – ALLURE, ACTIVE, GT – and six engines, including the new 100% electric engine of 115 kW/156 hp which offers 400 km of autonomy (WLTP mixed cycle currently being approved). ) and the new HYBRID 100 and HYBRID 136 and
JEROME MICHERON, PEUGEOT PRODUCT DIRECTOR: “Working on a model as emblematic and as successful as the 208 is always a delicate exercise. Our objective was to take the design and performance of the 208 to a higher level, while retaining the soul of this model, to remain on the top step of the B segment sales podium in Europe. The new 208 is more 208 than ever: more feline, more fun to drive, more technological… in short, more irresistible! And ever more electrified with the new electric engine offering 400 km of autonomy and the two new HYBRID 100 and HYBRID 136 engines.”
ALLURE: an eye-catching and athletic design, ever more irresistible
It’s always difficult to touch an icon. The challenge for the PEUGEOT designers was simple: how to offer a new modernity, a new step ahead of the 208 while preserving the characteristic and irresistible look that made it so successful…
MATTHIAS HOSSANN, PEUGEOT DESIGN DIRECTOR: “The PEUGEOT design team enthusiastically took up the challenge posed by the new 208. We wanted to further assert its already strong personality, without losing the overall spirit of its design. The new front end with the new PEUGEOT lighting signature and, at the rear, the reinvented three-claw lights allowed us to place the new 208 in the modernity of PEUGEOT, to give it a more feline posture, while retaining the sculpted, athletic silhouette that customers love. »
A spectacular highlight with the new PEUGEOT signature on the front
First introduced on the new 508 and 508 SW, then recently on the new 2008, the new PEUGEOT light signature now benefits the new E-208. A characteristic element of this signature, the three long vertical luminous claws are highlighted here by their integration into the shiny black inserts of the shield. Shifted towards the ends of the car, they help to give the E-208 a more solid and visually wider stance.
All new 208s benefit from this new light signature at the front. On the GT versions, this spectacular lighting is further amplified: the striking effect of the three light claws is extended in the lighting function of the “full LED” headlamps by the use of three independent optical modules.
A front that takes on a new dimension
All new 208s receive a unique front end which brings the 208 into the new era of PEUGEOT design symbolized by the new emblem of the brand which appears in its center.
This design, which reflects the growing electrification of the Range, brings more presence to the new E-208. This grille features an evolving body-colored frame which literally blends into the general volume of the bumper. The whole is no longer compartmentalized but forms a whole, for the benefit of perceived robustness, efficiency and modernity.
A reinvented light signature at the rear
The new E-208 reinvents the Brand’s emblematic rear light signature made up of three juxtaposed red claws. The newcomer remains faithful to these three claws, but they are now horizontal. Made up of three elegant LED lines which extend the black trunk lid strip, they provide more seating in the rear view and contribute to a perception of greater width. On the GT version, the reversing lights and indicators are also LED.
New impactful colors
Breaking conventions, the new E-208 has more allure than ever with the unique Agueda Yellow, launch color. Another new color, Selenium Grey, elegant and discreet for a reaffirmed modernity.
The new E-208 is available in seven body colors: Agueda Yellow, Selenium Gray, Artense Gray, Perla Black, Banquise White, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue. On all new 208s, the mirrors are gloss black, whichever color you choose, and the GT version gets gloss black wheel arches as standard (and, optionally, a black roof).
Rims with a unique design
The work on the rims is one of the strong elements of the new PEUGEOT design. Illustrated by the disruptive wheels offered on the 408, this approach continues on the brand’s new models. Witness the new E-208 which receives several types of alloy rims, all new, in size 16 inches (NOMA two-tone diamond rim) or 17 inches (YANAKA two-tone diamond rim with inserts). All alloy rims feature a 4-spoke wheel center bearing the PEUGEOT emblem, which hides the nuts.
The new identity of the PEUGEOT brand
The front, side and rear badges of the new 208 benefit from a new typography and a new Basalt Gray color. At the rear, the PEUGEOT monogram now sits alone across the entire width of the trunk lid strip. The E-208 receives an “E” badge in Dichroic Blue and White.
New elegant fabrics
The refinement and elegance of the new seat fabrics benefit all new 208s, in particular the new black Alcantara upholstery with Adamite Green stitching available as an option on the GT version. The latter pays attention to detail to the highest level with a dashboard trim and armrests which are also highlighted with elegant Adamite Green stitching.
EMOTION: driving pleasure offered by an ever more technological PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®
It was on the first generation of 208 that PEUGEOT introduced its emblematic i-Cockpit®. Today, ever more technological, connected and ergonomic, it remains at the heart of the driving pleasure provided by the new PEUGEOT E-208.
A renewed design for the digital instrument cluster
The instrument cluster, ideally positioned at eye level with the driver, is digital on the ALLURE and GT versions. Its generous 10-inch digital panel benefits from a new design and, on the GT version, a 3D display as standard. The driver can customize the color of the display as well as the layout and hierarchy of information according to his preferences. On the ACTIVE version, the new 208 retains the analog instrument cluster with its 3.5” color screen
A large 10-inch central touch screen for all new 208s
The large 10-inch central touch screen is standard on all new 208s, whereas previously the first two trim levels were equipped with a 7-inch screen. This ideal interface makes it easy to control the latest generation of PEUGEOT i-Connect and PEUGEOT i-Connect Advanced infotainment systems.
On the new 208 ALLURE and GT, the central screen is HD technology. On all versions, the piano keys are kept under the central screen to allow quick access to key functions.
The compact steering wheel,
At the heart of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, the compact steering wheel is the instrument of driving pleasure by offering unrivaled agility and precision. The compact steering wheel of the new 208 incorporates the new PEUGEOT emblem in its center and, where applicable, the new GT badge on the lower part of its rim. For optimal ergonomics, it accommodates the multimedia system controls (audio, telephone) as well as volume and voice control.
Dynamic ambient lighting on GT versions
Eight different colors, some of which are new, are available to users of the new 208 GT! The different colors now coordinate with those of the central touch screen and, where applicable, take into account the selected driving mode.
A modernized manual gearbox control
The new 208s equipped with the six-speed manual transmission receive a new gear lever knob, for greater ergonomics. The new 208s equipped with an automatic transmission retain the elegant, practical and discreet selector, introduced in spring 2022
