The New Audi RS 6 Avant GT is the pinnacle of the A6 range. The special edition is packed with exclusive details for the exterior and interior. An impressive roof spoiler, redefined diffuser and distinctively designed 22-inch wheels underline its leading position in the A6 range. The interior features high-quality bucket seats, a new color combination and individual numbering on the center console as exclusive accents. A lightweight, adjustable coil suspension exclusive to the Audi RS 6 Avant GT and a reworked quattro sports differential on the rear axle improve the driving experience. The twin-turbo V8 engine develops a power of 630 hp and a torque of 850 Nm between 2,300 and 4,500 rpm. Deliveries of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT will begin in the second quarter of 2024.
The idea for the Audi RS 6 Avant GT dates back to the apprentice project, the Audi RS 6 GTO, concept realized in 2020. Twelve apprentices learning to work as bodywork and vehicle construction mechanics, car mechanics, painters automobile and tool mechanics worked on the project for six months with the support of Audi Design. They were mainly inspired by the legendary Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO racing car from 1989. The result shows the range of ways young talents can contribute to the company, even during their apprenticeship.
Unrivaled Appearance
The New Audi RS 6 Avant GT stands out from other models in the A6 family, the Audi RS 6 Avant and the Audi RS 6 Avant performance version, thanks to its even more impressive appearance based on the RS 6 GTO concept. The striking front end clearly takes inspiration from the RS 6 GTO concept. The Singleframe grille and air intakes are completely covered in gloss black, making the car appear even lower and wider.
Vertical slats in the front fascia, a new intake grille and a powerful front splitter integrated into the bumper enhance the sharp appearance. For the first time, Audi Sport GmbH not only uses a completely redesigned hood, but also manufactures it from carbon fiber. The unique finish of the redesigned carbon hood is a real eye-catcher. Integrated air outlets behind the large 22-inch wheels reduce air pressure in the wheel arch and improve brake cooling. Like the hood, the fenders housing the large wheels are for the first time made entirely of carbon fiber – a highlight on the vehicle itself as well as for Audi production.
The side profile is defined by inserts in the side skirts, exterior mirror caps in glossy carbon and 22-inch wheels in 6-spoke design designed exclusively for the Audi RS 6 Avant GT. At the rear, the special edition impresses with black “RS 6 GT” lettering, a specially designed tailgate with a visually lowered loading edge, a functional diffuser in the vertical center that makes the car appear even wider and a Distinctive double spoiler inspired by motorsport. The latter was adopted almost on a 1:1 scale from the apprentice concept car. For the first time in the history of the Audi RS 6 Avant, the roof bars have been removed for an even flatter and sportier silhouette.
For the Audi RS 6 Avant GT, customers have the option of choosing exclusive stickers in two colors. The first, combined with an Arkona White finish, combines the traditional Audi Sport colors: black, gray and red. The model badges on the front and rear are also available in these colors. If this color combination is chosen, the distinctively designed rims are exclusively available in gloss white. Alternatively, the stickers in black and gray tones are available with the exterior colors Nardo gray or Mythos black. To match it, Audi Sport GmbH offers rims in glossy black or matte black. The four rings on the Singleframe grille and on the tailgate as well as the model lettering are black as standard. The following finishes are available for the exterior: Arkona White, Nardo Gray, Chronos Gray Metallic, Madeira Brown Metallic and Mythos Black Metallic.
The Audi RS 6 Avant GT comes off the production line with the RS plus design package as standard. The black interior is enhanced by numerous accents in exclusive red and copper color combinations, for example the stitching on the steering wheel, the sides of the center console, the center armrest and door armrests and the floor mats with l “RS 6 GT” inscription. The new RS bucket seats in leather and Dinamica and the “RS 6 GT” lettering just below the headrests also feature this color palette. The honeycomb stitching in the center of the seat shimmers in express red, while that on the outer seam of the bucket seat is finished in copper.
The armrests, dashboard, center console including its sides and door sills are covered in black Dinamica microfiber, while the decorative inlays are covered in dark black Dinamica microfiber. Decorative inlays are also available as an option in open-pore carbon fiber. The seat belts attract attention with their crimson red color. Finally, the central console displays the serial number of the car in a limited series of 660 units.
Next-level performance
The new Audi RS 6 Avant GT develops an output of 630 hp and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. This is an increase of 22 kW (30 hp) and 50 Nm compared to the base model RS 6 Avant. The spearhead of the series goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0.3 seconds less than the Audi RS 6 Avant. The Audi RS 6 Avant GT accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in just 10.5 seconds, 1.5 seconds less than the Audi RS 6 Avant. The standard top speed is 305 km/h, negative acceleration is managed by the standard RS ceramic braking system.
The power of the 4.0 TFSI V8 is applied to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive through the standard eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox with optimized shift times. Like the Audi RS 6 Avant performance, the Audi RS 6 Avant GT uses the latest version of the self-locking central differential. Particularly light and compact, it distributes the engine power to the front and rear axles in a ratio of 40:60. In the event of slippage, greater engine torque is automatically applied to the axle with better traction – up to up to 70% can be directed towards the front axle and up to 85% towards the rear axle. The reworked center differential improves driving dynamics, ensures significantly more precise cornering and reduces understeer.
To further distinguish the special edition from other RS models, the quattro sports differential on the rear axle has been specially tuned for the Audi RS 6 Avant GT. The new settings emphasize greater agility and greater rear bias in “dynamic” driving. Customers benefit from sporty, neutral handling and great precision. For the first time, and only for the Audi RS 6 Avant GT, adjustable coil spring suspension is standard. It allows the ride height to be lowered by ten millimeters compared to the Audi RS 6 Avant and offers a perfect combination of dynamism and comfort. Higher spring rates, triple-adjustable shock absorbers and stiffer stabilizer bars (30% stiffer front and 80% rear) ensure less body roll, again significantly increasing the fun factor . The necessary tools and instructions for making individual adjustments are also available on board. Customers can also order the RS sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) or the RS adaptive air suspension.
The new Continental “Sport Contact 7” 285/30 R22 high-performance tires provide the grip needed for dynamic driving. The tires provide better handling in dry and wet conditions and reduce understeer during high-speed cornering, resulting in more precise overall handling throughout the speed range. In addition, the braking distance is up to two meters shorter with the new tires when braking from 100 to 0 km/h.
Highest quality manufacturingUnlike the classic Audi RS 6 Avant, the New Audi RS 6 Avant GT is not entirely assembled on the production line in Neckarsulm. After bodywork and the paint shop, the 660 models are delivered to Böllinger Höfe, to the factory where the Audi R8 and Audi e-tron GT are built in small series.
Located near the Audi production site in Neckarsulm, this highly flexible facility is unique within the group and thus offers the best conditions for finishing the Audi RS 6 Avant GT there. Final assembly is carried out by seven experienced employees at three assembly stations specially designed for this exclusive special edition. Each vehicle spends an entire day there. All equipment specific to the Audi RS 6 Avant GT is fitted by hand on each of the 660 RS 6 Avant GT models produced worldwide. This includes the hood, fenders, rocker panels, twin spoiler, front and rear aprons and adjustable coil spring suspension.
Böllinger Höfe’s production is carbon neutral. To achieve this, Audi uses green electricity and heat from renewable sources, an important step both for the brand and for the Neckarsulm site. CO2 emissions that Audi cannot yet avoid through renewable energy sources are offset by carbon credits from certified environmental projects. The company thus makes a significant contribution to Mission: Zero, the premium manufacturer’s environmental program for sustainable production.
