- Strong emotions are also guaranteed behind the wheel of the new Ypsilon HF, the high-performance road version equipped with a 280 horsepower 100% electric engine, which is expected to appear on the market in spring 2025.
- Both models were developed and fine-tuned with the support of Miki Biasion, motorsport legend and World Rally Champion with Lancia.

- Lancia’s internationalization continues at high speed. 160 points of sale are opened in Italy. In the main European countries, in addition to France, in Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and soon in Germany, 70 new showrooms will open in 70 major European cities.
This weekend, Lancia took over the Stellantis test centre in Balocco to celebrate Lancia’s return to the world of rallying. Regularly used to develop Stellantis’ sports and competition models, the Balocco circuit recently welcomed Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, to test – himself – the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF.
Luca Napolitano, Lancia CEO, comments: “2025 will mark Lancia’s return to motorsport and our aim is to re-establish our presence in contemporary motorsport competitions. With a blend of tradition and innovation, Lancia looks to the future with passion and ambition. While 2026 will be the year of the flagship Gamma, which will be produced at the Stellantis plant in Melfi, 2025 will be dedicated to the return of the HF name, which will appear first on the Ypsilon, then on the Gamma and Delta with the “HF Integrale” label. Whenever we think of HF, we can’t help but think of the legendary Stratos, 037s and Deltas, which dominated rallying for decades, winning a combined fifteen constructors’ and drivers’ world titles. It’s a record that still stands. We have always been leaders in motorsport and rallying, but now, with the elegance and simplicity that distinguish us, we return to Rally 4, the development category for future professional drivers, as we look to improve on our past with passion and pride.”
Lancia is about to write a new chapter in its history with the introduction of the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF and the new Ypsilon HF, both presented last May. The Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF has been designed for racing with a 212 horsepower 1.2 Turbo three-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission with a mechanical limited-slip differential. The front-wheel drive configuration guarantees high agility and performance, making it the ideal car for young drivers who want to make a name for themselves. A category in which the basics of the sport are refined, the Rally 4 category represents pure passion and the first step for tomorrow’s champions. Furthermore, for the first time with the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF, the “Trofeo Lancia Rally” will take place over six rounds of the 2025 Italian Rally Championship, with prize money per event and at the end of the season amounting to approximately €300,000. The winner of the trophy will then have the opportunity to drive the official Ypsilon Rally 4 HF of the Lancia Corse HF team in the 2026 European Rally Championship.
Eugenio Franzetti has been placed at the helm of Lancia Corse HF thanks to his extensive experience in the world of motorsport. He explains: “The Ypsilon Rally 4 HF is a tribute to Lancia’s history in rallying. Compact, fast and incredibly fun to drive, it was designed to deliver thrills, just like the legendary Fulvia Coupé HF of the 1960s. After all, the vehicle was created for those who want to feel our heritage of courage, innovation and victories when they get behind the wheel. We are currently in the final stages of fine-tuning, with homologation scheduled for 1 January 2025, and we expect to deliver the first models at the end of January.”
The Ypsilon Rally 4 can be ordered from the Stellantis Motorsport Racing Shop today for €74,500.
As for the Ypsilon HF, it is the high-performance road version of the first vehicle of the brand’s new era, with a 280 horsepower 100% electric engine. With an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, the Ypsilon HF combines superior performance with a design inspired by the most radical vehicles of Lancia’s past, including lowered suspension and widened tracks. This version demonstrates the brand’s renewed commitment to producing powerful and exciting vehicles that combine sustainability and innovation.
For the development of both models, the brand called on Miki Biasion, a true motorsport legend who, between the 80s and 90s, was inextricably linked to Lancia and became the most successful Italian driver in history. Racing is an important testing ground for improving the technology and safety of all the vehicles in the series. In the case of the new Ypsilon, the Venetian praised this transfer of technologies that allowed Lancia to stand out in terms of responsiveness, comfort and silence, both on winding roads and in the city. With the iconic Delta of the Martini Racing team, Miki Biasion won the 1988 and 1989 world championships, helping Lancia to become the most successful brand of all time with ten constructors’ world championships. Lancia also has three world titles in the Sports Prototype World Championship, a victory in the 1000 Miglia, two victories in the Targa Florio and a victory in the Carrera Panamericana.
Miki Biasion says: “If you dreamed of a circuit when you were a child, you dreamed of the red of a Ferrari. But if you dreamed of becoming a rally driver, you dreamed of Lancia. I am honoured to have worked with the Lancia and Stellantis Motorsport teams to develop the Ypsilon HF and Ypsilon Rally 4 HF. I hope to inspire all the young drivers who will take to the road with our Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF to become professionals and future champions. Lancia’s legacy of victories and races is back and I am happy to be part of it.”
Present at the Balocco test, Luca Napolitano took the time to express his most sincere thanks to the previous generation Ypsilon, an iconic model that remained in the catalogue for fourteen years. Its production has ended and all the vehicles have been sold, marking the end of an important era and, at the same time, the opening of a new phase for Lancia with the launch of the new Ypsilon. This courageous but fundamental decision for the brand is part of Lancia’s mission to strengthen the premium range of Stellantis in Europe, in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo and DS Automobiles brands.
Since September, the entire Lancia team has been focusing on the new Ypsilon, the first vehicle of the brand’s new era, which has been very well received by the public and the international press. In Italy, the launch phase of the new model is almost complete in the 160 Casa Lancia, the new exclusive showrooms that express the brand’s new identity. In the Italian Casa Lancia, thousands of visitors have had the opportunity to discover the complete range – including the Ypsilon, LX and Cassina versions, all available in electric and hybrid configurations – and to take part in test drives to discover the vehicles’ unrivalled capabilities in terms of handling, efficiency and performance. To date, 10,000 orders have already been placed for this new model since its launch.
The figures confirm the success of this strategy. For example, 60% of customers are getting behind the wheel of a Lancia for the first time, while many of them came from other premium brands. Furthermore, 60% of them are men, as they appreciate the larger size of the vehicle compared to a classic city car. One in four Ypsilons sold is a top-of-the-range Cassina version, which means that 25% of new Lancia customers opt for the best in terms of elegance, exclusivity and quality on board. Furthermore, new customers are particularly impressed by the handling and precision of the steering, the silence, the interior and the SALA system. The model even recently won the coveted “Icon Design Trophy” at the Prisa Motor Awards, a prestigious event organised by one of the most important Spanish media groups, as well as a Prix du Style at the Grand Prix Auto Moto in France.
Finally, the brand’s internationalisation process is continuing at full speed, as set out in Stellantis’ “Dare Forward” plan, which aims to make Lancia a desirable, respected and trustworthy brand in the European premium market. This solid and ambitious roadmap plans to reach its future customers through an initial network of 70 new showrooms in 70 major European cities. In France, the opening of “Casa Lancia” continues at the end of the year. By December, almost all regions of metropolitan France will be covered. In 2025, there will be 25 points of sale that will be operational, in addition to 80 service points.
Lancia returns to Rally 4 with the Trofeo Lancia Rally in Italy
Lancia returns to the world of rallying in the category where the fundamentals of competition are refined: Rally 4, the heart and soul of road racing, where young drivers are fuelled by passion and fight to become the professionals of tomorrow. In Europe, Rally 4 is one of the most popular categories thanks to its high speeds and thrilling races. Experienced drivers also take part in the competitions, although it is mainly a development category for those who want to learn and progress. So, in true Lancia style, and in line with the brand’s mission and DNA, this is a new beginning marked by ambition, pragmatism and humility. To this day, Lancia remains the most successful marque of all time in the world of rallying, with fifteen World Rally Championships, three Sports Prototype World Championships, a 1000 Miglia, two Targa Florios and a Carrera Panamericana. With a heritage of success and victories, Lancia returns to rallying with an incredibly talented team led by Eugenio Franzetti, Director of Lancia Corse HF. As part of its return to competition, Lancia also announces the creation of the “Trofeo Lancia Rally” for drivers competing at the wheel of the new Ypsilon Rally 4 HF. Based on a six-round calendar of the Italian Rally Championship, the Trofeo Lancia Rally comprises three age categories: Junior (up to 25 years), Master (25 to 35 years) and Expert (over 35 years).
Registration costs €2,500 per crew and is all-inclusive, providing Lancia technical racing equipment, hospitality available in the competition area, a spare parts service at the service park, the assurance of a clear line of conduct respected by all those involved, and finally the publicity that the Lancia Corse team will give to the trophy and its competitors. Between the rewards distributed after each round and the end-of-year winnings, the prize money amounts to around €300,000. In addition, the winner of the trophy will have the opportunity to participate in the 2026 European Rally Championship with the official Ypsilon Rally 4 HF of the Lancia Corse HF Team.
Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF, a sublime team effort
Inspired by the legendary Fulvia Coupé HF of the 1960s, with which it shares front-wheel drive, reduced dimensions and high-speed driving sensations, the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF is the result of the collaboration between Lancia, the most successful brand in the world of rallying, and the Stellantis Motorsport team, which has eleven Dakar victories and twenty-seven constructors’ titles in the World Rally Championship. The car has been further enhanced thanks to prestigious partnerships between Lancia and some of the most famous brands in the world of motoring and racing, including Marelli, the Italian brand that took care of the engine management system; Sparco for the roll cage, seats and steering wheel; TM Performance for the braking system; Speedline for the alloy wheels and Supersprint for the exhaust system. The European companies involved are SADEV, which created the gearbox, and Ohlins, which supplied the shock absorbers. In addition, the double World Champion Miki Biasion contributed to the development of this car that brings Lancia back to the world of competition. Currently, it is in the final development phase and the goal is to obtain homologation by January 1, 2025 and deliver the first models at the end of January. Today is a key moment in this busy roadmap with the official opening of orders worldwide through the Stellantis Motorsport Racing Shop at a price of € 74,500. In particular, the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF features the CMP platform in hybrid version, used for the first time by Stellantis Motorsport and different from that of the other Stellantis Rally 4s. The lattice-shaped welded tube roll cage has been built on the new platform, creating a lighter and more rigid chassis. Furthermore, the new Lancia racing car is equipped with the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, 4-valve turbocharged engine, with modified turbines and exhaust, and a specific engine management system that can deliver a maximum power of 212 hp. It is a powerful and reliable engine that is also extremely cheap in terms of cost per kilometre, which is essential for drivers in the Rally 4 category. The power-to-weight ratio is extremely interesting with a mass contained at 1,080 kg (according to the regulations), making the vehicle extremely fast. Equipped with a 5-speed SADEV gearbox and a mechanical limited-slip differential, the high-performance model is the ideal solution for rally drivers who want to have fun, as well as a serious option for drivers aiming for victory in Rally 4 and two-wheel drive competitions. In addition, the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF is equipped with 330 mm ventilated disc brakes at the front, which guarantee powerful braking. The McPherson suspensions have been equipped with three-way adjustable Ohlin shock absorbers to allow drivers to adapt them to their own driving style.
Finally, it is worth highlighting that in addition to the HF logo, the historic “LANCIA CORSE HF” signature returns to the Lancia Ypsilon Rally 4 HF. Inspired by the historic version, the new logo is a contemporary reinterpretation with a look to the future, in keeping with the Lancia Renaissance. The CORSE lettering is now equipped with an ad hoc font. The logo’s graphics, with its inclined appearance, seek to express the concept of speed in the world of racing, creating stylistic coherence with the shape of the HF logo. The black and white colours also recall the original colours. The logo can be used both horizontally and vertically.
Lancia Ypsilon HF, the pleasure of the track on the road
The Lancia Ypsilon HF expresses the most competitive and high-performance spirit of the brand. Lancia is once again inspired by its past, revisiting it to look to the future with great ambition. Powered by a 280 horsepower 100% electric engine, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds, the Lancia Ypsilon HF will feature lowered suspensions, widened tracks and assertive, muscular shapes, inspired by the most radical iconic cars that have marked the history of the brand, with shapes and design at the service of performance. The car will be marketed in the spring of next year. After the Lancia Ypsilon HF, the Gamma and Delta will also be available in the HF Integrale version.
Furthermore, the HF logo, which returns on the Lancia Ypsilon HF, is the historic signature of Lancia high-performance models, originally introduced at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show, when a group of passionate Lancia owners founded the “Lancia Hi-Fi” club, an exclusive meeting point for the brand’s most loyal customers and in particular for people who had purchased at least six new Lancias. The HF logo then became the trademark of the HF Squadra Corse Lancia, founded in 1963 by Cesare Fiorio with passionate Lancia drivers and owners, and was used as the signature for many of the brand’s victories. The historic logo consisted of HF in white capital letters on a black background, with four red racing elephants underlined by the words “SQUADRA CORSE” in white on red. The little elephant was chosen as a lucky charm, according to legend that once released, these creatures are unstoppable, making them a symbol of performance and driving pleasure. Unveiled in March in its revisited version, the new HF logo reinterprets its historical counterpart with a contemporary touch: all the constituent elements of the brand symbolise Lancia tradition and are now simplified in terms of lines and shapes in a new balance that expresses innovation, high-end and the Italian spirit, with a touch of eclecticism in respect of the brand’s unique geometries.
Miki Biasion, a legend of world rallying
Miki Biasion is an icon in the history of motorsport, having contributed to making Lancia the most successful brand of all time, with ten constructors’ world rally championships, three sports prototype world championships, a 1000 Miglia, two Targa Florios and a Carrera Panamericana.
Biasion made his debut in Lancia colours at the wheel of the Rally 037 Gr. B. In 1983, the year in which he took part in and won the Italian and European championships. From 1986 onwards, he only took part in rallies registered for the world championship: in his first year, he won in Argentina with the Delta S4. The results improved further the following season; His five victories in 1988 led to his first world title with the Delta Integrale Gr. A. In 1989, Biasion joined the ranks of the double world champions and won the Safari Rally in Africa twice in a row, the only Italian to have ever done so.
Biasion thus inextricably linked his name to the brand in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming the most successful Italian driver of all time, having driven the iconic Martini Racing Team Delta to world titles in 1988 and 1989.
The new Ypsilon, precursor of the new Lancia era
The refined shapes of the new Lancia Ypsilon are inspired by the models that have marked the history of the brand, such as the round rear lights, a clear reference to the Lancia Stratos, and the iconic “chalice” of the front end, now revisited in three LED light beams. The New Lancia Ypsilon is equipped with the S.A.L.A. system, the intelligent virtual interface that guarantees a comfortable driving experience in line with Lancia technology. The new creation of the Italian brand is also the best in its class in the B segment of premium sedans, thanks to the most complete specifications in its category: a large 10.25-inch display, the best standard parking assistance system and the largest exterior lighting system in terms of technology and scope. It is also the only model in the segment equipped with Level 2 autonomous driving as standard on the Cassina version. The range consists of three versions for three different types of customer: the elegant Lancia Ypsilon, aimed at young customers; the Lancia Ypsilon LX, the most equipped and complete version; and the Lancia Ypsilon Edizione Cassina, for those who want to feel at ease on board the car. Each trim level of the new Lancia Ypsilon refers to the elegant and sustainable concept of feeling at home, in perfect Lancia style, culminating in the exclusive Lancia Ypsilon Edizione Cassina, the pinnacle of design, comfort and well-being. All versions in the range are available in electric and hybrid configurations, making this model a segment leader in terms of versatility, efficiency and respect for the environment. The Ibrida version is equipped with a latest-generation hybrid engine, with a 1.2-litre 100 horsepower (74 kW) engine and 48V 3-cylinder technology, combining maximum efficiency with unfailing reliability. The all-electric version embodies the brand’s vision in terms of range, charging time and efficiency for segment-leading performance. The model is equipped with a 156 horsepower / 115 kW power unit and a 51 kWh battery, to guarantee a range of 403 km (WLTP combined cycle) and a quick charge in 24 minutes (from 20% to 80%) or a range of 100 km in 10 minutes. The new Lancia Ypsilon is also an agile and dynamic car, capable of maintaining remarkable grip and stability on the road, while being equipped with great comfort, guaranteeing an absolute level of quality. In terms of driving pleasure, the design and production team has widened the wheel track by 24 mm, to ensure better weight distribution and road holding for the new model. The steering system has also been calibrated for optimum driving precision, and work has been done to achieve a specific suspension setting, more dynamic but never too rigid.
