A few weeks after its international presentation at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 arrives in France. With this all-wheel drive Ibrida Q4 variant with automated rear axle management, Junior offers its customers the widest range in the segment with the free choice between 100% electric or hybrid engines and the different versions: Junior to enjoy everyday sportiness, extreme performance with Junior Veloce, or all-wheel drive for safe and high-performance driving in all conditions with Junior Ibrida Q4, especially when grip is low. All-wheel drive is a key factor for a premium brand like Alfa Romeo, and the Q4 has a smart way of delivering it, using the Power Looping Technology system to ensure it works even when the battery charge is low.
All-wheel drive and driving modes: intelligent and adaptive technology
The Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4’s all-wheel drive system is always active thanks to Power Looping technology, ensuring optimal traction in all conditions. The Alfa Romeo DNA selector allows the driver to adapt the vehicle’s performance to their specific needs. The “Dynamic” mode prioritizes sporty driving by harnessing the engine’s full power, while the “Natural” mode is ideal for everyday use, offering a balance between dynamism and comfort. For optimized fuel consumption, the “Advanced Efficiency” mode promotes smooth and fuel-efficient driving. Finally, the “Q4” mode is activated in low-grip conditions, ensuring maximum control and increased safety.
In both “Natural” and “Advanced Efficiency” modes, the Q4 system operates automatically, prioritizing energy efficiency without sacrificing all-wheel drive when necessary. Up to 90 km/h, the car operates primarily in front-wheel drive to limit fuel consumption, but the advanced software can engage rear-wheel drive as soon as conditions require it. In “Dynamic” mode, the all-wheel drive optimizes torque distribution to maximize grip and responsiveness. From 0 to 40 km/h, the car systematically operates in all-wheel drive, distributing torque to both axles for efficient acceleration. Beyond this speed, priority is given to energy efficiency, gradually switching to front-wheel drive.
When “Q4” mode is activated, all-wheel drive remains engaged up to 30 km/h to ensure optimal traction during starts and low-speed phases. Beyond that, the SMART Q4 system takes over and ensures responsive all-wheel drive is maintained up to 90 km/h. Thanks to Power Looping Technology, rear-wheel drive remains active even when the battery is low. In this configuration, the front electric motor acts as a generator, directly powering the rear motor for continuous performance.
Driving dynamics: maximum agility and control thanks to Q4 all-wheel drive
The Q4 all-wheel drive system enhances the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida’s dynamic performance, improving both agility and cornering precision. Compared to the front-wheel-drive hybrid version, the Q4 enters corners faster and exhibits more responsive handling. This configuration reduces understeer by 30%, ensuring a more natural and precise trajectory.
Even in “Dynamic” mode, the Q4 offers a perfect balance between agility and stability. Cornering speed is significantly higher without compromising vehicle control. Optimized torque distribution, combined with a revised suspension, further improves grip and driving dynamics, making the car more intuitive and engaging.
A high-performance and efficient hybrid model
The Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 sets the standard for efficiency in its segment. Thanks to the absence of a mechanical connection between the two axles, fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions remain low, with a threshold below 120 g/km. This version also introduces, for the first time on this platform, a MultiLink independent rear suspension, guaranteeing both comfort and driving pleasure.
Traction performance is exceptional, whatever the conditions. Snow, mud, wet roads: the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 ensures optimal grip for total vehicle control. With the introduction of Q4 technology, the Junior range becomes the most comprehensive in the segment.
It offers customers the option to choose between a 100% electric powertrain, ideal for city driving, and a hybrid, perfect for long distances. Three versions are available: Junior, which prioritizes everyday sportiness; Junior Veloce, for extreme performance; and Junior Ibrida Q4, which combines safety, comfort and efficiency, even on low-grip roads.
A Q4 hybrid transmission for a varied clientele
Under the hood, the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 combines a 136-hp 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two 21 kW electric motors, for a combined output of 145 horsepower. The configuration relies on a front electric motor integrated into the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and a second motor positioned on the rear axle, providing traction without a mechanical connection between the axles. This arrangement ensures optimal torque distribution and enhanced traction on all types of roads.
Designed to tackle challenging conditions, the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 appeals to a diverse clientele: winter and summer sports enthusiasts, all-wheel-drive enthusiasts, and professionals looking for a versatile vehicle. Its agility in urban environments and its ability to venture onto more demanding terrain make it an ideal choice for both private individuals and company fleets.
Optimal driving comfort thanks to MultiLink suspension
For the first time on this platform, the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 adopts a MultiLink independent rear suspension. This advanced system guarantees optimal comfort and improves traction on all types of surfaces. Specially calibrated for this configuration, the springs, shock absorbers and stabilizer bars effectively absorb road irregularities, providing exemplary road holding and superior comfort for all occupants.
Iconic design and high-end equipment
Design-wise, the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 stands out with its “Leggenda” badge, reinterpreted for the occasion, as well as its full LED headlights and 18-inch “Petali” alloy wheels. On board, the premium ambiance is echoed through refined finishes, such as the leather steering wheel and the heated Spiga vinyl and fabric seats. The driver benefits from electric adjustment with a massage function, while the front passenger has six-way manual adjustment.
The on-board experience is enhanced by a 10.25-inch infotainment system with integrated navigation, a six-speaker audio system, and eight-color ambient lighting, highlighting the air vents, the central tunnel, and the iconic telescope instrument cluster. The technological equipment also includes Level 2 autonomous driving, a 180° reversing camera, a hands-free power tailgate, and a keyless entry system with proximity access technology.
With this new Ibrida Q4 version, Alfa Romeo further enriches its offering, by proposing a model that is both high-performance, efficient and perfectly adapted to the demands of modern driving, combining dynamism, comfort and safety in all conditions.
