nouvelle Škoda Superb iV

The fourth-generation Superb saloon is now available in France in its plug-in hybrid version (iV). Combining a 1.5 TSI combustion engine with an electric motor, the unit delivers a combined power of 204 hp. The Superb Saloon iV offers a range of 136 km (WLTP), and its battery can be recharged from 10 to 80% in fast charging stations (DC) in just 26 minutes. The Superb iV is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the second quarter of 2025.

Second generation plug-in hybrid system

The saloon variant of the fourth-generation Superb is now available as a plug-in hybrid. This engine complements the range of plug-in hybrid engines already available on the Combi version of the Superb as well as on the Kodiaq. The second-generation plug-in hybrid engine of the Superb saloon iV combines a 1.5 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine, with an output of 150 hp, with an electric motor. They produce a combined output of 204 hp. The power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed DSG transmission. The high-voltage battery, with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, comprises four modules and is located under the rear seats. Its positioning changes the capacity of the boot, but at 486 litres (1,635 l with the bench seat folded down), it remains particularly spacious.

A three-phase permanent magnet synchronous electric motor is integrated into the transmission and separated from the combustion engine by a clutch. This engine can operate independently to power the vehicle or work in tandem with the petrol engine. In “e-mode” – 100% electric mode – the electric motor alone provides a maximum power of 85kW or 116hp and a torque of 330Nm. It is also used to start the combustion engine and replaces the traditional alternator.

The Superb iV saloon uses its 1.5 TSI petrol engine and its electric motor in three different configurations, depending on the driving mode selected. In addition to the standard driving modes of the Superb range (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual), the Superb iV saloon offers three additional hybrid modes: E-mode, Hybrid, and Sport.

Long range in 100% electric mode and reduced charging times

The Superb iV saloon offers convenient charging options to suit different needs. Thanks to its 11kW on-board charger, it can be recharged from 0 to 100% in 2.5 hours at an AC charging station. Like the iV versions on the Superb Combi or Kodiaq, the Superb iV saloon is suitable for fast charging with up to 50kW, allowing it to recharge from 10 to 80% in 26 minutes. While driving, the battery is continuously recharged by regenerative braking, which recovers kinetic energy during deceleration.

With an electric range of up to 136 km (WLTP cycle, almost 160 km on the urban cycle), the Superb iV saloon is perfectly suited to everyday use. The latest generation Superb features updates such as second-generation full Matrix LED headlights, a redesigned interior with the integration of Smart Dials, advanced safety and assistance systems and a wide range of powertrains marking the debut of next-generation hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies.

The Superb iV saloon is now available to order in France, starting at €53,020. It is offered in Selection, Sportline and Laurin & Klement trim levels, and will arrive in dealerships in the second quarter of 2025.
