Porsche 911 Carrera RSR
Developed by Porsche, the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR was developed for competition. In 1973, the first series built was equipped with a 2.8 L engine from the Porsche 911 Carrera RS in 2.7 L.
The engine capacity had been revised and increased from 2,687 cc to 2,808 cc to give it much higher power with 300 hp instead of 210 hp, and an overhaul of the engine with the change of internal moving parts such as the camshafts of stroke, reinforced pistons, larger diameter valves and dual ignition.
The lightening of the body with Perspex windows, a lighter engine fan and many others to allow it to reach 840 kg empty against 960 of the Porsche RS 2.7 L.
The braking system has been completely revised and corrected for the improved characteristics of the 911 Carrera RSR, as has the size of the tires, which have been revised accordingly for its new performance on the circuit.
The Porsche 911 Carrera RSR is homologated to race in the biggest automobile competitions in the Group 4 category of the International Federation and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.
A turbocharged version in 1974 had been developed and named 911 Carrera RSR Turbo 2.2 L.
