The Lancia Appia Zagato GTE
the Lancia Appia Zagato GTE, an entry-level car equipped with more powerful 53 hp engines instead of the 43 hp of the other basic models. Only 241 copies were built by Zagato for the GTE version in 1959 (GTE for Gran Turismo Esporto) which had been presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1958.
The Lancia Appia GTE Zagato was the first declination sold directly through the Lancia network, which allowed Zagato to officially transition from coachbuilder to supplier of special body coupés.
The GTE differed from the other versions by its bodywork worked to be lower and more aerodynamic with headlights recessed into the fenders and covered and a longer front bonnet and taillights slightly recessed into the rear fenders.
